The Robert Noyce Scholarship Program , funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), responds to the critical need for K-12 teachers of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by encouraging talented STEM students to pursue teaching careers in secondary schools.

Hispanic Service Institution Grant

The CalTeach program was awarded an HSI grant to support the teacher preparation of future math and science teachers. This grant currently funds the following:

  • All testing fees associated with earning a teaching credential
  • CBEST/CSET test prep resources
  • Funding for transportation to school sites for fieldwork
  • Student teaching scholarships
  • Student funding for Professional Development opportunities

GOLDEN STATE TEACHER GRANT (GSTG) PROGRAM

The Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG) Program awards up to $20,000 to students currently enrolled in a professional preparation program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and working towards earning their preliminary teaching or pupil personnel services credential. Students must: Complete their program and obtain their credential within 6 years from the date their initial GSTG payments are mailed to their institution. Commit to work at either a priority school or a California preschool program for 4 years within 8 years of completing their program.

LOAN FORGIVENESS

Teachers in the United States may be eligible to cancel part of all of their educational loans using one or more of the options below:

  • Stafford Loan Forgiveness for Teachers
    • Under the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program, if you teach full-time for five complete and consecutive years in a low-income school or educational service agency, meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to $17,500 on your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans and your Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program
    • The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
    • To qualify:
      • Be employed by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization
      • Work full-time for that agency or organization
      • Have direct Loans (or consolidate other federal student loans into a Direct Loan)
      • Repay your loans under an income-driven repayment plan
      • Make 120 qualifying payments
  • Federal Perkins Loan Cancellation for Teachers
    • Federal Perkins Loan cancellation is based on eligible employment or eligible volunteer service and the length of time that you were in such a position.
    • Eligibility: You qualify for cancellation of up to 100 percent of a Federal Perkins Loan if you have served full-time in a public or nonprofit elementary or secondary school system as a
      • Teacher in a school serving students from low-income families
      • Teacher in the fields of mathematics and science
