Transfer-to-Teaching Noyce Scholarships

The Transfer-to-Teaching Scholarship seeks to support math and science transfer students that plan on teaching math or science in a high-need school district after they graduate, with $15,621 towards tuition per academic year, for a maximum of two years.

Given the priority of a four-year completion timeline and the need to respond rapidly to the teacher shortage, the target candidate needs to be on track to complete the lower division requirements in their STEM major, as well as their general education requirements, within a two-year time span. In addition, target students need to be academically successful, and meet the minimum GPA requirements for successful transfer to UCI. Selected T2T Noyce Scholars, a minimum of 24 students over the 5-year program, will receive two years of fully funded UCI tuition, which addresses a primary financial hurdle to UCI attendance.

To be eligible for the Noyce Scholarship, students must be:

  1. An incoming junior or senior transfer student at UCI
  2. Enrolled in the CalTeach program.
  3. A U.S citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  4. A declared major in Chemistry, Physics, Earth System Science, Biology or Mathematics.
  5. Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  6. Exploring or willing to seek a teaching position in a high-need school district or agency.
