BEFORE YOU HAVE BEEN ADMITTED TO THE CALTEACH PROGRAM:

  • Set an appointment to go over the CalTeach Program requirements & establish your future academic plan!

  • Attend a CalTeach “Coffee Chat” Information Session, held several times throughout each academic year. (Check our CalTeach Events page for upcoming sessions. & for other opportunities to connect with Calteach)

  • Ideally, prospective TRANSFER STUDENTS should enroll in the CalTeach foundational courses BEFORE transfer. Learn about the UCI Cross-Enrollment process.

  • Be sure to review the 4-year Sample Plan for your major. It is important to follow the Sample Plan recommended course sequences because many required courses may not be offered or available in other quarters. Not following the plan could extend your graduation date!

  • It is highly recommended to complete all, or most, of your primary major course requirements before your final year of student teaching (as shown in your Major 4-year Sample Plan).

  • Review & submit your “Intent to Enroll/Declare” CalTeach Program Form, ideally before you begin EDUC 55 in the fall of your junior year. CalTeach will email you the fillable “Declare” form during your first CalTeach advising appointment. After the form is signed by CalTeach, take it to your Primary Major Advisor so the Secondary Teaching concentration, or specialization, can be added to your UCI degree.

  • Check your DegreeWorks to be sure the Secondary Teaching course requirements have been added.
